Yordenis Ugas will be out for a long time.

A member of Team Ugas said that Ugas suffered a fractured right orbital in the 10th-round loss to Errol Spence Jr.

Ugas was diagnosed with an eye injury early Sunday morning at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. The Cuban had a left uppercut in Round 7 that buckled him and caused his eye to swell.

The doctor advised the referee to stop the bout in Round 10 because the boxer couldn't see out of his right eye, which was completely swollen shut.

According to his team, Ugas does not need emergency surgery and will be reexamined at a later date to see if a medical procedure is required.

Billy Joe had metal plates put in his orbital after he was defeated by Canelo in a super middleweight title unification last May.

Ugas will definitely be out for an extended period. He hurt Spence in the 6th round. Ugas, who was the third highest ranked fighter on the network, entered the bout with a belt he had retained after he knocked out the legendary Manny Pacquiao.

A detached left retina required surgery and forced him to withdraw from the fight with Pacquiao. Ugas will look to bounce back from his serious eye injury.

Ugas said he had a chance to win the fight in the sixth round, but he recuperated well.

He added the title to the belts he already owned. They could meet later this year to crown an undisputed champion in one of the biggest fights that can be made in boxing, and Crawford has the only one he doesn't own.

Everybody knows who I want to fight next, I want Crawford. I'm coming for that belt.
