Police said a large party was being held at an Airbnb when shots broke out.

According to the police blotter, two people were killed at a large party hosted at a rental in Pittsburgh. At least eight people were being treated for gunshot wounds.

The police were called to a house party that had as many as 200 people in attendance.

As many as 50 rounds were fired inside, causing some party-goers to jump out the windows, sustaining injuries such as broken bones and lacerations. The police said there were more shots fired outside the home. Young people fled the area on foot and in vehicles.

The police chief said at the press conference that officials believed there were multiple shooters.

After an altercation occurred, guns were fired inside and outside of the residence.

Evidence is being processed at as many as eight different crime scenes. No arrests have been made so far. The names of the two boys who died were not released. One was as young as 14. An initial police report said nine people were injured by gunfire.

The police department and the mayor's office have been reached by the company. The guest who booked the listing has been banned from the platform for life, and the company is considering all legal options to hold the person accountable.

The behavior that is alleged to have prompted this criminal gun violence was condemned by the spokesman forAirbnb. He said that the party was thrown without the permission of the host.

Party houses, where users rent a listing to solely host a party, are a problem for short-term rental platforms. After five people were killed at a shooting at one of its bookings, Airbnb banned party houses and put in place several safety features.

Due to the way these companies operate, they can sometimes stop parties from taking place. Guests can sometimes check in to remote properties themselves while the owner is away and can invite as many people as they want.
