Hunter Greene struck out Freddie Freeman with three pitches over 100 mph to add to his huge game. There is a time and a place.

The Cincinnati Reds' rookies brought some record-setting heat on a cool Southern California evening.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finally caught up.

The Dodgers beat the Reds 5-2 on Saturday night for their fifth consecutive victory after Turner hit a two-run home run in the sixth.

In his return to his hometown, he threw 39 pitches 100 mph or faster, the most in a single game since pitch tracking began. Jacob deGrom had a previous mark of 33.

The young pitcher who went to high school in Sherman Oaks threw 13 pitches at least 101 mph, setting a new record for a starter.

The moment finally came in the third baseman's stance. He said he became teary-eyed on the bench as he walked off the mound in the sixth.

It was a great time, but I wish we would have won. Freddie gave me a tip of the cap, so that was cool. I was happy to be able to do that here and have family here.

It was a 99 mph pitch to Turner that ended up in the left-field seats.

Turner said that they had to be ready for 99 with a decent changeup and a good pitch.

Turner had an infield single in the first. In the eight games that he has played this season, the fast baseman has a hit in all but one of them. It is the longest hitting streak in the history of the team.

The Dodgers starter, who had his velocity down during the spring and through his first outing of the season, was able to outpitch the Dodgers' starter, who had only given up one hit.

The Reds didn't get their first hit until the fifth, when Tyler Stephenson ripped a single past second baseman Max Muncy. The Dodgers finally broke through.

Barnes led off the sixth with a single. Turner's first home run of the season was a home run halfway up the bleachers in left field.

The pitcher passed the ball to the first baseman who reached first base. Turner popped out and David Bell replaced him with Buck Farmer.

Chris Taylor hit a two-run single with two outs to give the Dodgers two more runs.

Turner said that he was going to give them nothing, so they had to earn it. I am glad we came out with the win because he is really good.

In his first outing, he gave up three runs on five hits with no walks and six strikeouts. He had 80 pitches.

The Reds lost their fifth game in a row, their last victory coming last Sunday when Greene made his major league debut in Atlanta.

He said he cried on the bench in the third.

He chuckled and said that he didn't cry, that was a poor choice of words.

I was sitting on the bench and it hit me. I heard the roar and the feeling of it when I looked up. It is a completely different atmosphere up here. I think all of those factors played a part in that moment.

The big stage did not affect him on the field. Turner's home run came on a pitch at the edge of the plate.

Bell said it takes a little longer to find that surety for a young player.

The sacrifice fly by Freeman made it a five-run game.

As walked one and struck out five. After sitting at 91 in his season debut, he was in the 92 mph range with his fastball. During his 20-win season in 2021, he is still down from his 94 mph average.

The Reds got on the board with two runs in the ninth on a groundout by Taylor Naquin and a single by Tommy Pham.

Hudson got his first save of the season.

The win was earned by EvanPhillips.

The deal making people.

The Reds sent O&Brien to Seattle for a player to be named or cash. The 40-man roster for Nick lodolo will now be made up of O'Brien.

The trainer's room.

Nick Senzel was placed on the injured list, but Bell said he has not tested positive. Senzel was feeling unwell before the game. The pitcher was recalled from Louisville. The Reds will wait until Sunday to make a decision on whether or not to move 2B Jonathan India.

Tommy Kahnle, a Dodgers pitcher who has just one major league outing since having Tommy John surgery, made his third consecutive rehab outing on Friday.

Up next.

The series finale will feature the third start of the season for the Reds' Tyler Mahle. He is 2-1 in four starts against the Dodgers.

LHP Andrew Heaney will make his home debut for the Dodgers after throwing a clean slate at Minnesota on Tuesday.
