According to a report from The Washington Post, Apple employees in New York City are trying to form a union.

Fruit Stand Workers United announced in an update on its website that they voted to join the Workers United labor union on February 21st, 2022. Workers United is the same group that supports Starbucks unionization efforts.

At least three other stores are reportedly working towards organizing

According to The Post, organizers at the Grand Central location are giving out signatures so employees can express their interest in forming a union. If at least 30 percent of workers sign off on it, organizers can file a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to hold a union election. There hasn't been an Apple store that has formed a union.

Grand Central is an extraordinary store with unique working conditions that make a union necessary to ensure our team has the best possible standards of living in what have proven to be extraordinary times.

The Post reported in February that Apple stores were getting ready to unionize because of complaints that wages can't keep up with inflation and poor working conditions. At least three Apple store locations are moving towards forming a union, according to a recent report by The Post.

An Apple spokesman said in a statement to The Post that they value everything that retail team members bring to Apple.

Apple increased benefits for both part-time and full-time retail employees following a report that Apple store employees are struggling with low wages. Retail workers have dealt with changing mask guidance, store closings, as well as a requirement to submit proof of a COVID-19 booster shot or show a negative COVID-19 test before entering the store.
