There have been questions about how the company would limit potential abuse of the feature after it was confirmed that it was working on an edit button. We may have an answer. Jane Manchun Wong, who is known for reverse engineering apps to find new features, suggests the forthcoming tool could create a newtweet whenever someone changes something they wrote.

Looks like Twitter’s approach to Edit Tweet is immutable, as in, instead of mutating the Tweet text within the same Tweet (same ID), it re-creates a new Tweet with the amended content, along with the list of the old Tweets prior of that edit

It looks like the approach to Edit Tweet is immutable, as in, instead of changing the text within the same message, it re-creates a new one with the amended content.

At the moment, it's not clear what that list looks like.

A number of other developers were able to enable the function before the official release. The edit option can be accessed through the three-dots menu.

The one major difference between the platform's existing composition window and the new interface is that the button you press to post the tweaked message is instead of the one you press to open it.

The outcome of Musk's bid to buy the company could affect whatever form the edits take. After purchasing a 9.2 percent stake in the social media giant and not joining its board of directors, an executive from the companies offered to buy it for $43 billion. The poison pill strategy was unanimously approved by the board on Friday.
