One of the first 100 rioters to storm the Capitol building was a white former police officer from Virginia who had his bail revoked because he continued to possess and buy firearms and encouraged political violence.

A jury found Thomas Robertson guilty of all six counts.

Robertson was found guilty on Monday, April 11.

  • After Joe Biden's victory over Donald Trump, Congress was supposed to confirm him as the 46th president of the United States.

  • Interfering with Washington D.C. Metro and U.S. Capitol police.

  • The destruction of evidence.

  • Entering and remaining in a restricted building.

  • Aiding and abetting the obstruction of an official proceeding and the use of a dangerous weapon.

  • In a restricted building or grounds, armed with a dangerous weapon, demonstrating disorderly and disruptive conduct.

The jury deliberated a day and a half before convicting the 49-year-old of five felony charges.

During closing arguments, the U.S. Attorney told the jury that the man gleefully put himself in the thick of the initial crowd of rioters who set off hours of chaos in the Capitol.

He was proud of what he did.

Robertson and Jacob Frack were shown to have pride in the evidence against them. They took a shot in front of the John Stark statue inside the Capitol. The accused and the Frack both called the junior Robertson.

The men were among the first to break through the Senate wing doors and windows.

In the footage, Robertson is seen wearing a gas mask and carrying a wooden stick before he gets into a confrontation with officers trying to contain the crowd.

He bragged about his involvement on his social media. On the day of the riot, he wrote on Facebook that they were chanting on the roof of the safe room. Who's house, our house.

The soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box are the four boxes that a legitimate republic stands on.

The government was scared of its people. The pictures of them crying is the most American thing I have ever seen. Stormed it.

Robertson continued to show signs of wanting to overthrow the government even after he was arrested.

After Judge G. Michael Harvey mandated that he keep away from all firearms, destructive devices, and/or weapons as he awaits trial, the Army veteran was arrested five months later.

He was told by the judge to move his guns from his home within two days.

In less than a week after his release, authorities discovered eight firearms in his Ferrum, Virginia, home. The judge did not bring him in for the violation.

During another authorized visit in June, officers found a loaded M4 carbine and a partially assembled pipe bomb.

He purchased 34 firearms online and transported them in interstate commerce while under a felony indictment, prosecutors said.

The judge revoked his release order because he violated his release terms twice.

Mark Rollins, Robertson's defense attorney, conceded to some of the evidence against his client.

Berkower said in her closing arguments that there is no room for mob rule or counterinsurgency in our democracy.

She noted that the evidence showed Robertson's desire to cause violence, to intimidate and stop Congress from doing its job.
