Trae Young's huge 2nd half leads Hawks to the playoffs (2:10)

Trae Young scored 31 points in the second half, including huge fourth-quarter buckets, to lead the Hawks to a win and a spot in the playoffs. The time is 2:1.

The Atlanta Hawks overcame the loss of starting center Clint Capela to a first-half injury in the play-in game to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Hawks will face the Heat in the first round of the playoffs.

Young had 38 points, including 30 in the second half and 15 in the fourth quarter, for the Hawks.

Young shot 4-of-11 from 3-point range and drilled several back-breaking shots that helped the Hawks hold their lead late. He had nine assists.

The Hawks took their first lead late in the third quarter on a 3-pointer from Young, who scored 16 points in the quarter, helping his team overcome a 14-point deficit.

In the first quarter, Markkanen sank 5 of 8 from 3-point range and scored 17 points as the Cavaliers jumped out to a double-digit lead. Markkanen and Garland both scored 26 points.

Allen missed 19 games with a broken left finger. Allen had not played since March 6.

The Hawks lost Capela in the first half when the center fell against his knee. Capela had to be helped off the court with a knee injury. His availability against the Heat is unknown.
