Byron Buxton exits game after awkward slide into second base (0:38)

The leader of the game, who leads off with a double, goes to the sideline after hurting himself on his slide into second base. (0:38)

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said that outfielder Byron Buxton is getting an exam on his knee after he left the game in the first.

After the Red Sox mishandled his pop fly to shallow left field, Buxton slid into second base to score the game's first run.

Baldelli said he would hold off on making any roster moves until the results of the MRI came back to the team.

We are not going to go there yet. Baldelli told reporters that they would wait and see what they find.

Despite a history of injuries, the Minnesota Twins signed center fielder Buxton to a seven-year, $100 million extension in November.

Since he made his major league debut in 2015, he has played in just 500 Twins games and has been on the injured list 11 times.
