The chain said it was looking into expanding its crypto payments last year.

Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC Theaters, announced on Friday that the company's app will allow you to buy tickets and concessions using Dogecoin and Shiba Inu. The company added support for the cryptocurrencies through a Bitpay integration, after saying in November that it was unsure how to accept the coins.

Paying for popcorn and tickets using Doge is relatively easy, you just have to select Bitpay as your payment method, and you're good to go. You can connect your wallet to get an address where you can send your chosen currency to complete the purchase, or you can get an address where you can send your chosen currency. A Sonic 2 screening with a large popcorn and drink combo costs 1,204,739.704740 or 213.539627 DOGE, as I was writing this.

Exactly as promised, the AMC mobile app for AMC’s U.S. theatres now accepts online payments using Doge Coin, Shiba Inu, and other crypto currencies — thanks to Bitpay. Also Apple Pay, Google Pay and Paypal. To do so, you first will need to update to the latest version of our app. pic.twitter.com/MMy7SIxYbl

AMC has allowed movie-goers to buy tickets with cryptocurrencies like Bitpay, but only for a few months. It seems unlikely that this integration will end up being a gold mine for AMC, given what other organizations have said about how many people end up paying withcryptocurrencies. It is possible that the meme stock crowd could be really into it, but even if they were, I wouldn't hold my breath. Maybe it will work out better than investing in a gold mine, something AMC actually did.
