According to his attorney, Barry Sorrels, the Dallas Cowboys player was not the person who shot and killed a man last month.
Sorrels told The Dallas Morning News that Kelvin Joseph did not shoot Mr. Ray. On the night of March 17 he was not looking for trouble. He was in a situation without his knowledge or consent. Kelvin apologized to the Dallas community for being near this type of incident. We intend to respect the process of the investigation.
Dallas police want to speak with Joseph about the shooting that left a man dead.
There was an incident between two groups of friends that included Joseph and Ray. Ray and his friends were walking to their car when shots were fired from an SUV. Ray was found at the scene of a shooting in the 3600 block of Greenville Avenue. He died while in the hospital.
On KDFW-TV this week, police asked for the public's help to identify men involved in an altercation. Joseph goes by the name YKDV Bossman Fat as a rap artist.
According to multiple sources, the Cowboys have encouraged Joseph to talk to the police about what he knows about the incident. Sorrels told the Morning News he would address that subject later at a more appropriate time.
The Cowboys released a statement on Friday.

The organization is aware of a possible connection between the incident and the man. We are in contact with Dallas law enforcement. We have no further comment at this time.
The matter is under review by the league.
