Reggie Walton, who was appointed by George W. Bush, said that the former President did not care about democracy or power.

The statement was made shortly after a man was found guilty of breaking into the Capitol and stealing items, including liquor and a coat rack.

Thompson claimed in his defense that he felt manipulated by Trump and that he was obligated to invade the Capitol.

Thompson's attorney wanted to call Trump and Giuliani as witnesses.

President Ronald Reagan appointed him to the D.C. Superior Court and then President George H.W. Bush appointed him to the federal bench.

The third jury trial for a January 6 defendant ended on Thursday with guilty verdicts on all counts. A judge found a New Mexico elected official guilty of illegally entering the U.S. Capitol grounds, but acquitted him on a disorderly conduct charge. More than 500 trials related to January 6 could take place in the future according to the Justice Department.

A federal judge said last month that Trump was more likely to have committed felony obstruction than not. The January 6 Committee was granted access to emails from John Eastman, a former Trump legal adviser.

More likely than not, Trump tried to obstruct the election.

The New Mexico official who founded Cowboys for Trump was found guilty over the role he played.

A man from Texas was found guilty in the first trial over the Capitol Riot.
