For months, leakers claimed that the Pixel foldable phone would be released in fall 2021. The event did not have a foldable. The leakers promised an early 2022 release, but it was wrong.

We have seen enough leaked information to know that Google has developed several foldable prototypes and that it may be called the Pixel Notepad. Does that mean we will see a release this year? That doesn't mean it will happen, but leakers think so.

The category of foldable phones was pioneered by all of the above companies. The conversation around foldable phones changed when the phones like the Z Fold 3 and Find N proved they can offer a premium experience.

As other companies refine and master their own designs, there will be more pressure on Google to enter the foldable market. It will not have the same amount of time for experimentation as it did with its first attempts.

When will the Pixel Fold arrive, and could it have more than one design? We will answer all your questions with the leaked information.

We first heard of the foldable phone from a leaked internal document, which mentioned the Pixel 5a, 6, 6 Pro, and foldable phone as 2021. The first three phones were shipped this year, but the last one needed more time to gestate.

There is no hard information on when the Pixel Fold will launch, now that the rumors about it appearing alongside the Pixel 6 have been proven false. There are references to the code "isPixel2022Foldable" in a recent deep-dive of the Google Camera app.

Rick Young claims that the foldable production will begin in Q3 2022. It is thought that it would launch in October 2022.

Competition will likely be strong with the likely launch of the Z Fold 4. The rumored name of the phone could be a way for the company to differentiate itself from the Z Fold lineup.

The Z Fold 3 is the same glass and design as the phone that Young claims will be released in late 2021. He reported that the order had been canceled. Even if the phone is released this year, it may not happen.

There are two foldable phones in the works. There are two things that have been the subject of multiple leaks. The other is a mystery.

Since 2020, if not earlier, we have explained that thePassport foldable phone is being worked on by Google. There is a new foldable codename that was revealed in the most recent leak, but it is likely that it is the same device that will have a horizontal-folding, tablet-sized display.

A code deep-dive from 9to5 revealed that the code was for a foldable phone called "Jumbojack" and that it was used for a variety of software tests.

The code names evoke a passport opening horizontally and a Jumbo Jack cheeseburger opening vertically, so in theory, the foldables could be released after the new software is ready. ThePassport is coming out anytime soon, according to internal documents.

Jumbojack was designed as a way to test vertical-folding phones internally for the upcoming release of the Android 12L. In theory, the foldable notepad could be a follow up to the flip 3.

Google Pixel Fold: Pricing

We have heard rumors that the Z Fold series will be cheaper than the Z Fold 3, and that the price of the Pixel Notepad will be $400 less than the Z Fold 3.

The Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro were both priced at over $1,000. By selling its flagships for less than the industry rate while offering high-quality performance, Google has made an impression on Android fans.

It's still more than most people would spend on a phone, and most people bought the Z Fold 3 through carrier deals. We will have to see what kinds of trade-in deals people can find for the foldable phone.

Google Pixel Fold: Availability

The Z foldables will be available in over 100 countries. It has always taken a more measured approach to its phone availability. The Pixel 6 is only available in nine countries, with three more coming in 2022, including Spain, Italy, and Singapore. The Pixel 5a only shipped to the US and Japan.

It is unlikely that the Pixel Fold will sell outside of typical markets. Depending on where you are, you may have to stick with one of the two.

Google Pixel Fold: Design

The rumors suggested that the Pixel Fold would use the same display materials as the Z Fold 3, and that it would have a 7.6-inch foldable display. But as we mentioned, the order was canceled, and now may use a design that evokes a different foldable instead.

The square-shaped foldable that the OPPO Find N was released last year is similar to the rectangular, inward-foldingpassport that the Google may still use.

There are animations that show off software. We have not seen any leaked photos of the device, nor do we know how it will compare to other devices.

We know from the leak that the same 12MP camera sensor used in older phones will be used in the Pixel Fold. That would match the Z Fold 3 12MP sensor and ensure that the phone is relatively thin when folded. The leak is old, and may have changed plans.

Pixel Fold Patent

The foldable design that was patented by Google shows a three-screen design with a hinge and a smaller rectangular display that slides out to increase the footprint of the device. Most patents do not end up reflected in the final designs of the company.

We will have to wait and see if the Pixel Fold has a built-in slot for a stylus. There is a possibility that a new, more compact Pixelbook Pen could be created. The Z Fold 4 may have a built-in stylus port, which would give the popular foldable brand another edge.

Google Pixel Fold: Specs

Google Pixel 6 Material You

The signs pointed to the chip used in the Pixel Fold being the one used in the Tensor. The same hardware as the Pixel 6 lineup was found in the source code. It is more likely that the Pixel Notepad would use the new GS201 and Cloudripper chip.

The Pixel 6 lineup got a processing boost compared to the past ones thanks to the custom Silicon platform made by the two companies. Cloudripper will likely address many of the hardware bugs in the Pixel 6 series.

We expect the foldable phone to have the same amount of RAM as the Pixel 6 Pro and Z Fold 3. It will put it on par with the best phones on the market.

We don't know if the Notepad is still 7.6 inches, but we expect it to have the same QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The Notepad would look overpriced if less was added.

Google Pixel Fold: Software

Material You, a snazzy design language, was introduced with the release of Material You on October 19 with the arrival of the Pixel 6. The new security hub, voice typing, Instant Translation, and other tools will be included in the Pixel Fold.

The experience with the Pixel foldable phone will be defined by the 12L version of the Android operating system. Any portrait or landscape-oriented phone will work with the folded Pixel. It adds a multi-window layout for split screens so when you open up your phone, you will see more content from that app all at once.

Drag and drop your favorite apps into one half of the foldable display so that you can do multiple things at the same time. With a long press, you will be able to hide or reveal the taskbar at any time.

We will have to wait and see how the stock performs on foldables and how it compares to unique software developed by competitors, which uses similar tools with OneUI 4.1. That will be more important than the hardware for deciding how the Fold stacks up against the best foldable phones.
