DeChambeau had surgery on his wrist on Thursday and hopes to return to the tour within the next two months.

Dr. Thomas Graham performed the surgery to repair the broken hook of the hamate bone in DeChambeau's left wrist.

Over the past few months my team, Dr. Graham, and myself have been watching my wrist for a broken hamate bone. I have been unable to compete at golf's highest level due to the altered grip and swing I have been forced to use. This has not been easy for me.

DeChambeau missed the cut at the Masters after carding a 12-over total in the first two rounds. He has fallen to 19th in the Official World Golf Ranking and 217th in the FedEx Cup points. He missed the cut in three of his past four starts and has only one top 25 finish this season.

The next major, the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Golf Club in Oklahoma, on May 19-22, now seems to be in doubt. The Country Club outside Boston is where the U.S. Open will be held.

DeChambeau said that he would be taking the appropriate time needed to rest and recover from the procedure, and would look forward to competing at the highest level within the next two months.
