Since learning of his official demise in Cleveland, Baker Mayfield hasn't done himself any favors. The end of Mayfield's career in Cleveland was due to the fact that the 22 civil cases for sexual misconduct still pending weren't enough to scare the team away. Baker has been sharing his feelings about the situation. He did that on the YNK show. I feel disrespected because I was told one thing and they did another. That is what I am in the middle of right now. I like it because I have had four different head coaches in four years. I would love to show up to someone's cubicle and boo them. The smoke is being brought to anyone who is within earshot. He is calling out the organization. He had words for the Cleveland fans who booed him. This situation is not without blame for the Browns. It has something to do with the fact that there are multiple head coaches and offensive coordinators. He never lived up to the hype of being the top pick. I have said this many times and stand by it, that Mayfield is an average NFL quarterback. He won six games in three of the four years he was the starter. In 2020 he won 11 games, which is the outlier year on his resume. He is still a starting caliber quarterback even though he is an average one. It doesn't mean he doesn't have the right to feel that way. I completely understand if he feels disrespected by the Browns telling him one thing and then doing another. Baker said that Cleveland told him he would be back for another year, then traded for him once the criminal sexual misconduct charges were dropped. If it unfolded that way, anyone would be upset. You should ride like the wind. The monitor can be adjusted in multiple places to make it perfect for you.
My question is here. How do Baker's comments help him find a new team? The simple answer is that they don't. He sounds like a person that doesn't know what's going on. He isn't horrible, but he has never been considered a top 10 quarterback. No one is taking Baker over Deshaun on the field. Most people outside of the organization would probably stay away from him. We know that the NFL has morals when it comes to women.
Baker wants to boo fans at his place of work to see how they like it. Most people sitting in a cubicle aren't there to entertain the crowd. Fans don't pay to watch people type. People pay to see a quarterback throw a football. They have paid to have the right to cheer or boo whoever they want, whether it is their team or the opponent.
As long as fans don't throw around slurs and things of that nature, I have no problem with that. It wasn't like he had been great the entire four years in Cleveland, even though he was injured last season. Fans were ready to admit they were wrong. They have realized that the guy is not Mayfield.
There isn't much interest in the league with the availability of Mayfield. His coming out and blaming everyone else won't help him land a new job. Baker will find a new home once he is healthy. I don't know if it will be a starter initially. He will probably need to fight for a starting job in training camp.
Baker won't be coming back to Cleveland and the Seahawks are probably waiting for the Browns to release him so they can make a better choice. Louis Riddick gave Baker the best advice he could.
Let's see if he takes this advice or if he keeps telling people how he was hurt. If I had to bet money on it, I would go with the latter. Happy birthday Baker, I was happy to see you turn 27 on Thursday. Someone may have gotten him a clue this year.
