Bald eagles are one of the birds that are contracting the fatal disease.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said at least three bald eagles have died from bird flu. According to the U.S. Agriculture Department, the highly pathogenic bird flu has been detected in more than 25 states.

Bald eagles in Maine and Vermont were found to have the flu. Bald eagles in Ohio and South Dakota have contracted the flu. More than 20 million birds have been wiped out in the worst outbreak since 2015.
The majority of the birds are being culled to stop the spread of the disease. More than 13 million birds have been culled.
