A.J. Green is returning to the Arizona Cards on a one-year deal.
Contract terms were not available.
Green was close to a 1,000-yard season last season, his most recent. He had 848 yards and three touchdown on 54 catches.
Green signed with the Cards because he wanted to be a No. 2 receiver in the offense and not the top receiving option.
He found a role in the offense. By the end of December, coach Kliff Kingsbury acknowledged that he did not do a good enough job of getting the ball to Green.
Green was targeted 5.75 times per game. He played two games for 100 yards for the first time in a year.
Concerns about his durability were silenced by him. He has played 16 games in the last two seasons, after missing the season with an ankle injury.
Green signed a one-year deal with the Cards. It was the first time in Green's career that he wore a jersey other than the one he wears for Cincinnati.
He is second in the franchise in receiving yards, catches and touchdown catches.
