The situation of Kyler Murray is still up in the air as the season approaches.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Arizona Cards have not countered with a new contract offer since the quarterback's agent told them he was removing his initial proposal.
If Murray plays on a deal set to pay him approximately $5.5 million in 2022, it would be a surprise, since the market experienced a dramatic shift when Rodgers, Deshaun and Stafford all signed contract extensions worth $40.
The team will not trade him even if other teams are watching, as reported by Pelissero.
Murray told reporters last month that he was an Arizona Cardinal. I have done nothing but give my all to the team and will continue to do so. I am not worried about my future as a Cardinal.
In February, the topic of the quarterback's future picked up steam when he deleted the team's social media content from the platform.
He suggested that the social media actions received too much attention after he struggled during the playoffs, but he was prepared to enter the final guaranteed year of his contract.
If you are a kid, you are used to people taking off posts. I removed everything except one picture. It had nothing to do with the Cards.
In February, Burkhardt said his client was looking for a new contract.
Murray was selected with the No. 1 overall pick of the draft, and he quickly responded as the offensive rookies of the year. He followed that up with two straight Pro Bowl appearances as a dual threat who can hurt opposing defenses with his arm and legs.
There is no reason to think that he won't continue to improve as one of the best young players in the league, even though he went just 19-of-34 passing for 137 yards, zero touchdown and two picks in the playoff loss to the Rams.
It is possible that the Cards will eventually ink him to a long-term deal.
