For years, Chase has been the top credit card for travelers. The card allows you to dip your toes in the points and miles game at a low cost and increase your Ultimate Reward point balance. With Ultimate rewards being one of the most flexible travel currencies, there is an opportunity for everyone. Since Chase Ultimate Reward points are worth about 2 cents each, the welcome offer is worth around $1,600.
You can earn 80,000 Chase Ultimate Reward points if you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months.
Chase is increasing the points you earn on popular purchases. You will earn points per dollar spent with the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
10% bonus points will be earned on all purchases made in the previous year at each account anniversary. If you spend $15,000, you will get an additional 1,500 bonus points.
The card offers automatic travel protection in case of an unfortunate event happening, as well as the bonus points you'll earn on all travel purchases. When you book a flight or other non-refundable travel expenses with the Chase Sapphire Preferred, you will receive coverage in case of a flight cancelation, flight delay, lost baggage and more.
If you have to cancel a trip due to a covered reason, you can be reimbursed up to $10,000 per trip. You can be covered up to $3,000 per passenger for lost luggage. If your luggage is delayed for more than 6 hours, you can be reimbursed for your clothing and toiletries for up to 5 days.
If your flight is delayed more than 12 hours, you are covered for unreimbursed expenses for up to $500 per ticket.
Primary auto rental coverage allows you to decline many of the insurance options presented to you a car rental company, thus saving money.
The card is inexpensive, but there are some opportunities to offset the annual fee.
A new feature of this card is that you will receive a $50 annual credit on hotel stays purchased through Ultimate rewards. It's definitely a way to save more money since you can't use points for a free night stay, but you can book through Chase. Existing cardmembers will start earning their next statement credit after their next account anniversary, while new cardmembers will start earning the credit immediately.
You can earn Ultimate Reward points when using Chase Sapphire Preferred. You can either redeem your points through the Chase travel portal or transfer your points to partner airlines with this currency. The travel portal will give you 25% more points. A $500 flight booked through the portal will only cost you 40,000 points.
If you want to transfer your points to partner loyalty programs, there are many options.
If you redeem through a partner program, you will get the most value for your points and all partners will transfer at a 3:1 ratio. You can stay at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico or the Andaz San Diego for only 15,000 Hyatt points per night, which is less than the 15,000 Ultimate Reward points required. Both are great places to live.
The Hyatt Ziva Cancun is one of my favorite redemptions. The property is all-inclusive, with 25,000 points per night for up to two guests and then you can use points or pay $100 per night per child. All of your food, drinks, activities and even the kids club is included, for no additional points.
If you prefer to fly business class over economy, you can fly from Boston or Chicago to Spain for 68,000 Iberia points. Each point is worth over 5 cents per point because of the high cost of the business class flight. The value of your points will vary based on your travel desires, but you can get an even higher value by assuming an average of 2 cents per point.
If you prefer not to worry about award availability, you can always use your points on any travel experience. You can book your vacation through the travel portal of Chase. The points earned are worth $1,000 towards travel.
Chase has cracked down on allowing people to sign up for too many cards. If you have been approved for 5 or more cards in the past 24 months, Chase will deny you a new card. If you already have the Chase Reserve, they will not approve you for the Chase Preferred.
There were further restrictions on the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Preferred cards a few years ago. If you have received a sign up bonus in the past 48 months for the card, Chase will no longer approve you.
Since this offer is new, there is no rush to get this card. When you become eligible, you can always get it at a later point.
This is a card that you should look out for and put high on your radar. I have had this card for a long time and it was my go-to card. I split my purchases between different Chase Ultimate Reward credit cards to maximize the points earned.
You can earn 80,000 bonus points if you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months of your account opening. You can redeem for $1,000 through Chase Ultimate rewards.

By the minute, the Chase Ultimate rewards program seems to be getting better. While American Express Membership rewards has been diminishing, Chase Ultimate rewards has done the opposite and is one of the more lucrative travel programs out there. To begin with.
