According to a new report, some of Dianne Feinstein's colleagues are concerned that she is no longer fit to serve in Congress.

Four senators, a California Democratic member of Congress, and three former staffers of Feinstein told the San Francisco Chronicle that her memory is rapidly degrading.

According to the report, Feinstein, 88, at times, does not seem to fully recognize even longstanding colleagues, and one lawmaker described an instance in which they had to repeatedly reintroduce themselves and she raised the same questions multiple times.

An anonymous Democratic senator said that it was bad and getting worse.

The New Yorker reported in 2020 that Feinstein's short-term memory has grown so poor that she forgets she has been briefed on a topic.

Feinstein, whose husband recently died, was defended by some lawmakers. Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, said it was "unconscionable" that she was being subjected to these ridiculous attacks just weeks after the death of her husband.

Feinstein told the San Francisco Chronicle that he is still serving and delivering for the people of California and that the last year has been extremely painful for him.
