There is a state of Pennsylvania. Donald Trump waded into Pennsylvania's GOP gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, slamming a former aide over his alleged failure to investigate Trump's false claims of widespread election fraud. Another high-profile candidate reconsidered his decision to drop out of the race after Trump attacked them. Bill McSwain was the top federal prosecutor in Philadelphia for nearly three years. McSwain has called the presidential election in Pennsylvania a disgrace, as he sought to curry favor with the former president, while campaigning for the GOP nod in a crowded primary field. Trump turned on him. I will not be endorsing Bill McSwain for Governor in Pennsylvania. Trump said that he was the U.S. Attorney who did nothing on the massive Election Fraud that took place in Philadelphia and throughout the Commonwealth. He let it go because he knew what was happening. Trump's false claims of a stolen election have been discredited by the courts, his own Justice Department and numerous recounts, and no prosecutor, judge or election official in Pennsylvania has raised a concern about widespread fraud after Democrat Joe Biden won the state in 2020. McSwain, in a statement released by his campaign, did not address Trump directly but said, "I'm proud of my record as U.S. Attorney." I have put people behind bars who committed voter fraud and put rioters and looters in jail. He said that when he becomes Governor, we're going to get back to a voting system that everyone has confidence in. Jake Corman changed his mind after Trump snubbed McSwain. Corman, the top-ranking state senator, had his lawyers petition the state Commonwealth Court on Tuesday afternoon to withdraw his candidacy and remove his name from the May 17 primary ballot, but just three hours later he changed his mind and decided to continue with his campaign. President Trump's statement on the race and my conversation with the president led me to stay in the race for governor. He encouraged me to keep fighting, and that's what I'm going to do, keep fighting for the people of Pennsylvania. Corman has served in the Senate since 1999 after taking over the seat his father held. Other GOP candidates include former congressman Lou Barletta, who is known for his hard line on immigration, and state Sen. Doug Mastriano, a Trump supporter who showed up outside the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. Some state GOP officials are worried that a badly divided primary electorate will choose a nominee who can't beat the presumptive Democratic nominee. When McSwain asked for Trump's endorsement, he criticized the way in which Pennsylvania's presidential election was run but claimed that Bill Barr blocked him from investigating potential wrongdoing. McSwain said in a letter that Barr told him to pass along any serious allegations of election fraud. Barr said the order came from a top deputy. He told The Philadelphia Inquirer that McSwain was never told to stop investigating. According to Barr, McSwain told him that he had to do this because he couldn't have Trump attacking him. McSwain tried to thread the needle by saying things that were technically true. Trump has endorsed Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania's Republican U.S. Senate primary, but hasn't endorsed in the governor's race. Democrats were happy about the attack on McSwain. "You're fired, Sam," said the spokesman for the Democratic Governors Association. There is a Rubinkam reported from northeastern Pennsylvania. A federal judge rejected the request to dismiss the case against the former Clinton campaign lawyer. According to two people familiar with the matter, Stephen Miller, a top aide to President Donald Trump, will appear before a congressional committee on Thursday. Miller was a senior adviser for policy during the Trump administration. Miller is not certain whether he will appear in person or virtual. Few know that Amazon has millions of Prime subscribers.
