Amazon is looking to offset costs to third-party sellers in the US due to soaring inflation and fuel prices. The fuel and inflation surcharge for sellers that use Amazon will go into effect on April 28. Since most items purchased off Amazon are from third-party sellers, you can expect these new costs to be passed along to shoppers.

Jungle Scout research shows that 89 percent of third-party sellers use Fulfillment by Amazon to leverage the retail giant's supply chain, warehouses, and shipping operations.

In 2022, we expected a return to normal as Covid-19 restrictions around the world ease, but fuel and inflation have presented further challenges, according to an Amazon spokesman.

FedEx charges a fuel surcharge of 49 cents per unit, according to CNBC. The surcharge is 24 cents.

The New York Times reported that the US inflation rate was 8.5 percent in March, while gasoline was up 48 percent.
