Bridges gets heated at fan after being ejected (0:51)

A foul is called on Miles Bridges and he is ejected from the game. (0:51)

Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges hit a young fan with his mouth after he was ejected from the team's 132-103 play-in loss to the host Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.

With Atlanta up big in the second half and Charlotte's season winding to its end, Bridges was whistled for a goaltending call on Hunter and immediately went after game official James Williams, who called two quick technicals on the fourth.

A Hawks fan yelled in his direction as Bridges left the court and headed to the Charlotte locker room, leading him to throw his mouthpiece, which hit a fan standing nearby. She told the Charlotte Observer that the girl he hit is 16.

Bridges took full responsibility for the hit to the little girl. That is out of character for me. I don't act like that or flash out like that. That was definitely wrong, a lot of emotions, and hopefully I can apologize to the young girl and do something nice for her, but that is definitely on me.

It was one of the low points for Charlotte, which was overwhelmed in the play-in game for the second year in a row.

Charlotte coach James Borrego said he wasn't aware of what happened after the loss.

I need some time to talk to Miles and I know he was very emotional at the time, so I will gather some more information, Borrego said.

James Capers, the crew chief for Wednesday's game, said Bridges was given the first technical because he aggressively approached the official with a clenched fist.

He was ejected because he used profanity at the official and it was his second technical foul, which is an automatic ejection, according to the pool report.

The NBA will discipline Bridges for his actions.

Whatever the league says, Bridges will accept it.

He said that he let his temper get the best of him. It was the wrong thing to do.
