Moro Ojomo called out Texas’ team culture, much to the dismay of coach Steve Sarkisian.

When someone isn't allowed to speak, I'm always skeptical. When I read that Texas senior defensive lineman Moro Ojomo is taking a break from talking to reporters for a while after he criticized the Longhorns' culture, my immediate reaction was to question why.

The vibe in Austin is what Ojomo said about his younger teammates.

They’re 18- to 22-year-olds that want to chase women, want to chase money, want to chase alcohol and they don’t see the future. They’re distracted by what’s in front of them. It’s such a hard thing, especially guys that haven’t been in a winning culture.

They’re always talking about coming in here and changing stuff. It’s like ingrained. You’re uprooting, what? 10 years of shit that’s just been let go.

This is the explanation for cutting off a fifth-year senior who has been at the university longer than he has.

We have a team full of guys that like to do things outside of the program that we don't adhere to, so it's a little disappointing that one guy makes a statement and all of a sudden we have a team full of guys that like to do things outside of the program

He should not have done that in public. If you are a family, you don't talk about family business. You take care of your own. I think his intentions were correct, but the delivery and forum he used was poor.

It wasn't fair to Ojomo's teammates to speak on their behalf when they were called out in the media. That said, he didn't name anyone specifically, and that kind of honesty means a lot more coming from a peer than it does from a coach. According to the website, Ojomo said as much.

Whatever senior class changes the tide for Texas is going to be remembered by the players. The coaches come and go. The players have to say enough is enough. BS Texas isn't happening anymore. We have the ability. We have the talent. Get your mind right. We're going to win.

It sounds like Ojomo is pleading for some accountability, but he is the only one who got it. Sark didn't deny the accusations leveled by his player. This culture should be addressed in-house. If it was, it didn't take because of the problem. There is more than enough evidence that the program lacks guidance and leadership.

In the 2021 season, they had something called #MonkeyGate, when an assistant coach's stripper girlfriend's pet monkey attacked a trick-or-treater. She blamed the child. A coach lost his shit on the team bus after their loss to Iowa State, and his rant was filmed by one of the players he was berating, who posted it online. The wide receiver and the coach got into an argument. Moore moved. On-again, off-again starting quarterback. The team finished with a losing record. The seventh place finish was good for the Big 12. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State, and West Virginia all finished the season ahead of Texas.

A bunch of alumni are withholding donations because they are upset that they can't belt out the racist song before every game. Since Mack Brown left, Austin has been a poor place to play, so maybe they aren't aware that their team is a clown show.

I'm ecstatic that one of my seniors is fed up with his teammates acting like they're God's gift to football, and that he voiced his displeasure over their behavior. If Ojomo doesn't have that kind of juice in the locker room, what if Sark doesn't? He may now.

Someone give this defensive lineman a microphone and a podium. He said something, and now what will you do with his file?

Promote him to team captain, line him up to appear on a couple of podcasts, support him, and listen to him. Silence him.
