There have been reports that an Apple app called Move to iPhone was going to be replaced by a switch to the Android platform. If you're looking to make the switch, the app is now available for download on the App Store.

The Switch to Android app seems to be a fairly straightforward application, taking users through a flow to move their data from an iPad to any of the best Android phones. The process requires the users to use a barcode on their phone to find the content they want to move over to the other device.

Once the data is moved, a screen will prompt users to stop using the app. The final step allows users to request to have their media moved to the cloud.

Although the app appears to have arrived with little fanfare, it may not be ready for the world to see. The app is only accessible via a direct link to the App Store entry, and we can't find it in search results. We were able to download the app, but couldn't go through the transfer flow. Our request for comment was not responded to by Google.

The Smart switch app is one of the methods that many manufacturers have. It requires either backing up the phone with the drive or plugging in the device with the lightning cord. The only downside is that the app doesn't appear to copy Play Store apps over to the new device.
