Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said on Wednesday that former LSU football coach Ed Orgeron is at Notre Dame this week with two of his sons who are interested in coaching careers.
Brian Kelly left Notre Dame to become the new LSU coach in late November after it was announced that Ed Orgeron would not return in 2022. At LSU, the man who replaced Kelly at Notre Dame was interviewed for the position of defensive coordinator.
After he called to say he wasn't taking the job, they stayed in contact, even after he called to say he wasn't taking the job.
There are three sons, Tyler and twins. They were members of the LSU coaching staff.
He wanted my sons to be able to come up and experience what Notre Dame football is all about.
They arrived on Monday and are leaving on Thursday or Friday.
I think he said that if you have someone that has done the things he has done, you have 43 years of experience. He had a chance to speak to the team. He has been at some of our meetings and I pick his brain on different things. He presented his vision to the staff today and shared some of the things he has learned over the years. It has been beneficial for us to have him here as well as for his sons.
Notre Dame defensive lineman Isaiah Foskey said that Orgeron told the players that they are better together than they are with each other.
"We are all greater together, and we saw an incident where one person went down, and everyone picked up and kept going," he said. We are better as a team.
According to a video provided to ESPN of Orgeron speaking to the players, he told them they would win a national title.
He said that with this staff and this team, you will win it all.
