In his season debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers, ace hurler Clayton Kershaw took a perfect game into the seventh before being pulled, as he dominated the Minnesota Twins with 13 strikeouts in 21 batters.

Dave Roberts pulled the pitcher after 80 pitches. Alex Vesia gave up the first and only hit of Minnesota in the eighth.

The Twins' Dereck Rodriguez made his Twins debut in the eighth, when the three home runs were hit.

The Dodgers won a game the night before that was paused for 1 1/2 hours due to rain and ended after midnight after Max Muncy hit a solo home run in the ninth.

The Dodgers' ace started his 15th year with the team. The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner only needed 80 pitches. He struck out the side in the sixth and fanned every Twins batter at least once.

After missing more than two months with inflammation in his left forearm, the Dodgers' ace was placed fifth in the rotation out of the gate. He was given more time to build up strength in his arm because of the limited spring training schedule.
