The next-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not going to be released in the near future. CD Projekt Red decided to finish the project with an internal development team instead of Saber Interactive, so the free upgrade has been delayed until further notice. The company wants to evaluate the scope of work. The Wild Hunt update was supposed to arrive before the end of June. It would refresh the 2015-era game for PS3/Xbox3/PC with ray-traced lighting, faster load times and other features taking advantage of modern hardware. This would be a complete edition with expansions and other content. It is not clear what caused the outside studio to be dropped. This is not an attempt to avoid a repeat of Cyberpunk 2077. It wouldn't be surprising if CDPR exercises caution. This will be the last release of the series until a new title based on Unreal Engine 5 is released. We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. 1/2
