Amazon is changing its name to IMDb TV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the service will be called Freevee on April 27th. The outlet was told that the new name is designed to better reflect how much it costs to access the platform. Amazon said it would invest more into original programming, with a promise to offer 70 percent more exclusive content than it currently does. Tegan and Sara are the creators of High School, a coming of age series that will be on Amazon. At its NewFronts presentation on May 2nd, the company will announce additional details about its upcoming slate of originals. According to The Information, Amazon had been considering a new name for IMDb TV since at least the start of last fall. At the time, company executives had considered names like Zon and Free TV as potential options. Executives thought that the existing name was too difficult to pronounce and that it was hurting its popularity.
