More than $7 billion in assets have been frozen by the Royal Court of the island state of Jersey.

The Law Officers Department said in a statement on Wednesday that it executed search warrants on Tuesday.

Assets located in Jersey or owned by entities incorporated there are covered by the freezing order.

It is not known how these recently frozen assets factor in to the fortune of Abramovich.

The steel and nickel tycoon's wealth fell by about $3 billion after Russia invaded Ukraine, and in March he said he would sell the club.

Two of the yachts that are believed to be owned byAbramovich are avoiding ports where they might be seized, while another was transferred to a business associate just hours after the invasion started.

The UK and EU have imposed sanctions on the billionaire, but he has not been targeted by the US. In March, he was seen at peace talks in Istanbul.
