The Las Vegas Raiders are following the game plan.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the team and Carr have agreed to a three-year, $121.5 million contract.

After two great seasons in 2015, Carr looked like a future star. He had a broken leg in December of 2016 that ended his campaign.

The Raiders missed out on the playoffs in four of the five seasons that followed. Carr threw for 4,049 yards, 19 touchdown and 10 interceptions, but with a lack of weapons, he completed less than 70 percent of his passes. His grade at Pro Football Focus was just 21st among quarterbacks, and his touchdown was a career low.

He threw for 4,054 yards, 21 scores and eight picks, completing 70.4 percent of his passes. He received a vote of confidence from his former coach in February 2020.

He told reporters that he has a lot of respect for what he has done with tough circumstances and that he wouldn't answer every media rumor out there. I cannot do it. I will listen to my radio station and keep working. I love what Carr did and I'm anxious to continue to build around him.

Carr had his best season since 2016 with 4,103 yards, 27 touchdown and nine interceptions. He ended the Raiders' streak of not making the playoffs by guiding the team to a 10-7 record in 2021.

In a season that saw the team experience significant turmoil, Carr threw for 4,804 yards, 23 touchdown and 14 interceptions while completing 68.4% of his passes. The Raiders head coach resigned over the release of offensive emails he sent prior to taking over. One of the team's 2020 first-round picks was released after he was charged with drunk driving and causing the death of a woman.

The team came up short in the Wild Card Round against Cincinnati, but Carr's performance was a big reason they made it to the playoffs.

Carr has experience as a head coach and has a solid resume. His extension will look smart if he maintains his level of play.

He will have one of the best weapons in the NFL to throw to this season after the trade for Davante Adams. Staying on the course was always a good idea for Carr and Las Vegas.
