The XFL has finalized the hiring of all eight head coaches for its return to the field in 2023, according to an announcement on Get Up!
The list includes two former head coaches of the National Football League, as well as an Oklahoma Sooners coach who served in the XFL during the 2020 season. All but one of the coaches are former football players.
Individual team assignments will be made later. The league hasn't said if it will play in local markets or if it will operate from a central location.
The XFL has made a number of announcements this week, including the hiring of Dean Blandino as an official. The NFL Alumni Academy has an exclusive agreement with it to help develop players.
The USFL is scheduled to make its debut Saturday in Alabama, where it will stage almost all of its season in the year 2022.
RedBird Capital acquired the XFL in August of 2020 for 15 million dollars. Russ Brandon, a former Buffalo Bills executive, was hired as league president in November of 2021.
