Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant has been in the league long enough to know that it is not wise to give a playoff opponent any extra motivation before a series begins.

When Bruce Brown said that the Nets can attack the Celtics down low because of the absence of Robert Williams III, he was rebuked by Kevin Durant.

After the Nets finished off a 115-108 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Tuesday night's play-in game, KD said that they respect their opponents. Bruce is how I like him. We don't need to say "s--- like that" because he comes in and keeps the same energy throughout the season. Let's go out there and hoop.

Brown was asked what the biggest key to slowing down the Celtics would be, and he said it would be.

Brown said that they couldn't let Jayson get 50. We could attack Al Horford and Daniel Theis because they don't have Robert Williams. It's huge that they don't have Robert Williams.

The man who took the dais for the postgame news conference had been told that Brown had said something that he wouldn't appreciate.

When Bruce Brown got up here, what did he say to me?

When he was told of Brown's comments, he tried to walk them back.

He takes something before the game. Horford and Theis can do the same things. It isn't going to be that easy, I tell you that.

The bigger key in the series will be defending the man, and that's what KD is focused on. The Celtics All-Star went off for 50 points in a win over the Nets in early March and continued to improve his game while leading the Celtics to the No. 2 seed in the East.

Nets guard Kyrie Irving said that slowing down was the first thing to do. Al Horford is dominating the offensive boards, and Daniel Theis is filling in for Robert Williams.

How do the Nets plan to stop him? It is easier said than done.

He is one of those players who you just have to play hard and see what happens. He is so skilled and efficient at what he does. I expect us to play hard.
