Comedy Legend Gilbert Gottfried Dead At 67

Gilbert Gottfried was a comedy legend.

In a statement released Tuesday, his family said they were "heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness." Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert's honor.

Glenn Schwartz told us that Gilbert died from a heart abnormality called Ventricular Tachycardia.

Gilbert's career began in the 70s when he was a cast member on SNL and continued in the 80s when he was on The Cosby Show. Gilbert played business manager Sidney Bernstein in Beverly Hills Cop II.

Gilbert voiced Iago on Aladdin and the Aflac Duck in the early 2000s.

Gilbert posted a sad photo of himself with Bob and Louie after Bob died.
