Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he expects a new wave of Russia's war on Ukraine.

Zelenskyy sat down with Scott Pelley, a CBS News correspondent, for a conversation that will be aired on 60 Minutes on Sunday night. The full interview will be broadcast on the show on Sunday.

Zelenskyy said that he expects a new wave of war in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Zelenskyy spoke about the need for military aid.

It depends on how quickly the United States will help us.

Zelenskyy said that he had 100% confidence in the people and the armed forces, but that he didn't have the confidence that they would get everything they needed.

Zelenskyy told the German newspaper that he was unaware of the status of some towns in the east and south of Ukraine.

We don't know what is happening in the south of our country or in other small towns around the country. He said it was in the east of the country.

Zelenskyy said in the interview that fighting in the eastern Ukrainian region could be like a war, like the world has not seen in hundreds of years.

Iryna Vereshchuk, the deputy prime minister, has encouraged Ukrainians living in the east to leave.

In Mariupol, the Mayor has estimated that at least 5,000 people have died in the city since Russia began its invasion.
