After being charged with attempted murder in a shooting-related incident last month, Cain Velasquez broke his silence for the first time.

In a statement posted to his social media, the former two-time UFC heavyweight champion thanked everyone who has given him support and said his case is complex and slowly unraveling as we speak.

To the true victims of this case, please come forward and tell the truth, because justice will be served. I will continue to help and love my community. Thank you for loving me.

According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, Velasquez was charged with attempted murder and multiple gun assault on March 2. Harry Eugene Goularte is currently facing charges of molesting one of the young relatives of Velasquez. According to a court document, Velasquez is facing 10 offenses that could result in more than 20 years of jail time if he is convicted. He has been in jail since February 28.

According to the office of the district attorney, Velasquez rammed the truck Goularte was riding in and fired a 40-caliber handgun into it, killing Goularte and two of his relatives. According to a court document, the 63-year-old man was expected to survive after he was shot in the arm and torso. Goularte and his mother were in the truck.

Justice will be served and your own true healing will begin if you speak the truth. I will continue to help and love my community. Thank you for loving me.

Goularte is accused of lewd or lascivious act on a child under the age of 14.

According to a statement from the office of the district attorney, Goularte was released from custody without bail. He was ordered to stay in home confinement, remain 100 yards away from any child under the age of 14 and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. Goularte is due back in court. According to a court document, the child told an officer from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office that Goularte touched him in the bathroom of the day care center. In the court document, the child said he witnessed other children go into the bathroom with Goularte as well.

Goularte said that he once helped a child with his pants when he saw the child didn't have them on correctly. The day care center is owned by Goularte's mother, according to the court document. The allegations against Goularte were not believed by his mother.
