The Chicago Sun Times reports that Amare, a gorilla at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, is obsessed with his phone.
The 16-year-old, who lives with three other male gorillas, has had many visitors come up to the glass enclosure to show him pictures and videos on their phones.
Stephen Ross, director of the zoo's Lester E. Fisher Center for the Study and Preservation of Apes, told the Sun Times that Amare's attention was very much distracted.
It is very much like Ross' battles with his teenagers.
He told the publication that they have to guide their children's choices for their good every once in a while.
It is something that all responsible parents think of and it is similar to what we are doing here.
Amare's screen time may be the reason why Ross has been paying less attention to his other roommates.
The researcher said that more and more of his time he is spending over there is looking to engage with these screens.
Amare will hopefully be able to quit his new habit if the rope separates visitors.
If we can all agree that we want to do what's best for the animals, then we can resist the urge to flip through pictures for an hour with him.
Lincoln Park Zoo officials say the teenage gorilla is getting too much screen time.
There are more on gorillas.
