I think it's unfortunate, because I've never had an issue with any of my coaches before.
Russ' comments are about as oblivious as his game was this past season.
Russ has been playing the way he has for the past few seasons. If you think that the best way to do it is to simply run everything through yourself, then that's what you're going to do. You are both the sun and the moon.
Russ can say he never had a problem with a coach, but given the way he was punted out of Houston and D.C., someone wasn't pleased. Russ had become convinced that he was the North Star because he lived in a bubble, but he doesn't notice when he can't do that anymore.
Russ was an awful fit on a Lakers team where he would do most of his work off the ball, which makes little sense when Russ can't shoot. The Lakers always had a few players who looked like that scene from Gone With The Wind, and his cap hit made them look even better. The Beacon of Light style that Russ chose for Oklahoma City after Kevin Durant left certainly caused eye-popping numbers and performances, but it also meant the Thunder were rarely worth a shit. The teams in Houston, D.C., and L.A. have not amounted to shit-worthy either.
Russ had to put up walls to keep out the view. It's all crumbling now, but he'll most likely never see the view.
