Black Panther earned the studio its first-ever Best Picture nomination and became one of the studio's most successful films. The sequel to Black Panther is currently being finished and will be released later this year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Disney+ original series Ironheart will be executive produced by Coogler.

Ironheart is the alter ego of Riri Williams, a 15-year-old tech genius at MIT. Riri was able to reverse engineer Tony Stark's armor and create her own suit. Riri's desire to become a superhero was endorsed by Stark. Riri will be a role that will be originated in the film, Wakanda Forever.

Ironheart has two directors signed on to helm it. The first three episodes of Ironheart will be directed by Sam Bailey. The creator of Brown Girls and You're So Talented will direct the remaining three episodes of the first season.

The overall deal that he signed with Disney is what the THR notes. The contract calls for the production of an Ironheart-themed series. Ironheart will be executive produced by Coogler and his company, Proximity Media.

Ironheart is likely to begin filming later this year. The premiere date has not been announced.
