A couple found an injured pit bull terrier. There is a sugarcane field near Judge Becnel Lane. The dog was taken to the animal hospital by the Thibodaux animal control officer.

The dog had burns on her pads, paws, elbow, and chest. Most of the animal's nails were filed off.

The dog was taken in by Aloona Chauvin and her daughter, who operate Top Tail Rescue and Pet Services in Houma, officials said.

Jeff Dorson, director of the Human Society of Louisiana, said the dog is expected to make a full recovery.

We don't know what happened to Jelly Bean, but we are grateful she was found and treated and will be loved for the rest of her life.

The Humane Society of Louisiana is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the dog's injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Human Society or email info@humanela.org.

You can help pay for Jelly Bean's medical care by sending a check or money order to HSLA, P.O. Box 740321, New Orleans, LA 70174. All donations are tax deductible.
