Freddy Rincon is in a critical condition with severe head injuries after he was involved in a car crash.

There were four other people in the car when it was in collision with the bus.

The bus driver and passengers in the car were injured.

The Imbanaco Clinic said that Freddy Eusebio Rincon arrived in hospital this morning with a traumatic brain injury.

Rincon played in three World Cup and scored 17 goals.

He has played in 10 World Cup finals for his country, tying the record for most appearances by a single player.

Rincon was part of the side that ended the nation's 28-year wait to play at the World Cup when they qualified for the 1990 finals, and scored a memorable goal in a 1-1 draw against eventual winners West Germany.

He was the captain of the team that won the first-ever Club World Cup in 2000.
