The Los Angeles Lakers are said to be considering Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse to be their next head coach, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
University of Michigan coach Juwan Howard is expected to be a candidate.
After finishing the season with a 33-49 record, it was reported that Vogel is expected to be fired. According to Bleacher Report and Adrian Wojnarowski, the last game that Vogel will be in charge of is the one against the team.
The Toronto Raptors had an impressive four seasons with Nurse at the helm. The 54-year-old won an NBA title in his first year as head coach, and the next season he won the league's Coach of the Year award.
He has a career regular-season record of 186-122 and has led the Raptors to a 48-34 record and the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Despite the obvious appeal, Charania noted that it was unclear whether he would have interest or not.
The Lakers would need permission from Toronto to interview Nurse and then work out a trade if all sides agree.
Howard is a different direction for Los Angeles having spent the past three years at the college level with Michigan. He has made it to the Elite Eight and Sweet 16 in the past two years. He was named the AP Coach of the Year in 2020.
The 49-year-old spent 19 years in the NBA as a player, including his final three with the Miami Heat. The squad won two NBA titles.
Rob Pelinka was a teammate of Howard's at the University of Michigan.
