  • CNBC reports that a man who returned a Model X in early 2020 is still paying for it.

  • He tried to use the seven-day no-questions-asked policy of the company.

  • The case is going to be private.

A man who returned a Model X in 2020 under the company's seven-day no-questions-asked return policy is still paying for the vehicle two years later.

In an interview with CNBC, Danny Roman, a biking and hiking tour operator in southern California, outlined a lengthy dispute withTesla over the car's return.

He decided to return the Model X because it had a shorter battery life and a door that stuck. He found out that it would cost ten times more to install a home charging station for the car than it would for a representative from the company.

He told CNBC that he was promised that his refund would be processed quickly after his car was collected.

The company argued that it didn't have a seven-day return policy when Roman bought the vehicle.

As of September 30, 2020, the policy was still visible on the company's website.

Roman told CNBC that at one point he stopped making payments for the car, but this damaged his credit rating, so he continued to pay.

Roman told CNBC that he was in a dispute withTesla. A contract of sale may include a condition that the contract of sale include a dispute resolution process.

Roman told CNBC that he is still a huge believer in electric cars and that he hopes his story reaches the powers that be at the company.

Insider requested comment fromTesla, but they didn't reply immediately.
