April

The full moon of April is known as the Pink Moon. The sun rises at 5 pm

The Crew-4 mission will launch on April 21. The Crew Dragon will carry astronauts from NASA and the European Space Agency. The rocket will lift off from Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 6:37 a.m.

The shower peaks on April 21-22.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible from southern South America, parts of Antarctica, and over the Pacific and Atlantic oceans on April 30. The second new moon of April is also known as a Black Moon.

The Nilesat 301 satellite will be launched by a SpaceX Falcon 9.

  • Arianespace will use an Ariane 5 rocket to launch the MEASAT 3d and GSAT 24 communications satellites from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana.
  • Astra will launch the first pair of small CubeSats for NASA's TROPICS mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
  • Astra will launch the second pair of small CubeSats for NASA's TROPICS mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

May

The Cislunar mission will be launched from the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand on May 3. The launch window runs through May 15.

The shower peaks on May 4-5.

The Flower Moon is the full moon of May. The sun rises at 0414 GMT.

A total lunar eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon, will be visible from North and South America, Europe, Africa and parts of Asia.

A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will be used to launch Boeing's Starliner spacecraft on its second uncrewed mission to the International Space Station. It will lift off from Florida.

On May 29th, Jupiter and Mars will make a close approach in the dawn sky. The planets will be visible together with the naked eye or in a pair of binoculars.

The new moon arrives at 7:30 a.m. The time is 1230 GMT.

  • An Arianespace Vega rocket will launch the LARES 2 satellite for the Italian space agency. It will lift off from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana.
  • India's Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), designed to carry small satellites into low Earth orbit will launch on its first orbital test flight.
  • Astra will launch the third pair of small CubeSats for NASA's TROPICS mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
  • A Chinese Long March 7 rocket will launch the Tianzhou resupply ship to the Chinese space station. It will lift off from Wenchang, China.
  • A firefly Alpha rocket will launch on its second test flight from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
  • A Chinese Long March 2F rocket will launch three Chinese astronauts on the Shenzhou 14 spacecraft to dock with the Chinese space station. It will launch from Jiuquan, China.

June

The Transporter 5 mission will launch on June 1. It will lift off from Florida.

Russia will use a rocket to launch a cargo ship to the International Space Station. It will lift off from Baikonur.

The International Space Station will get a cargo resupply mission from NASA on June 7. It will leave the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:25 a.m. The time is 1525 GMT.

June 14 is theStrawberry Moon, a full moon in June. The sun rises at 1151 GMT. It will be the first super moon of the year.

The sixth Space Based Infrared Systemgeosynchronous satellite will be launched on June 18. The satellite will be launched from Florida and will be used for missile detection.

June 21 is the longest day of the year. Today is the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

The new moon is on June 28. The time is 0252 June 29

  • NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) megarocket will launch on its first uncrewed test flight of an uncrewed Orion crew capsule, for a mission known as Artemis 1. The Orion spacecraft will orbit the moon before returning to Earth for a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. The mission has been delayed several times and officials are now aiming for a June launch. The mission has already been delayed several times.
  • A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will launch the Wide Field Of View (WFOV) experimental missile warning satellite for the U.S. Space Force in a mission titled USSF 12. It will lift off from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
  • May 15: A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the first two WorldView Legion Earth observation satellites for Maxar Technologies. It will lift off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
  • A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will launch the USSF 44 mission for the U.S. Space Force. It will lift off from Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

July

The Buck Moon is the full moon of July. The sun rises at 1830 GMT. It will be the biggest super moon of the year.

The new moon is on July 28. The time is 1754 GMT.

August

The Psyche mission to study the metal asteroid will be launched on August 1. September

The Crew-5 mission to the International Space Station will launch on Sept. 1. The Crew Dragon will be carrying astronauts from NASA and Russian cosmonauts. The Kennedy Space Center in Florida is where the Falcon 9 rocket will lift off.

The Harvest Moon is the full moon of September. The time is 0959 GMT.

The European Space Agency will send a rover to the Red Planet. It will take off on a Russian rocket.

Russia will send a group of people to the International Space Station on a rocket. Baikonur Cosmodrome is where the spaceship will lift off.

The autumnal equinox is Sept. 23. Today is the first day of fall in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

The 14 demonstration satellites will be launched from the Vandenberg Space Force Base.

The new moon arrives at 5:54 pm. The sun rises at 2154 GMT.

A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will be used to launch the Joint Polar Satellite System 2 (JPSS 2) for NASA and the Low- Earth Orbit Flight Test of an Inflatable Decelerator (LOFTID) on a test flight. LOFTID is a project between NASA and ULA.

October

The shower will peak overnight.

The Hunter's Moon is the full moon of October. The time is 2055 GMT.

The annual Orionid meteor shower peaks on Oct. 20-21.

The new moon arrives at 6:48 a.m. The sun rises at 10:00 pm.

A partial solar eclipse will be visible from Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East and western parts of Asia.

Also scheduled to launch in October.

  • A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch a rideshare mission called Transporter 6. It will lift off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
  • A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket will launch the USSF 52 mission for the U.S. Space Force. It will lift off from Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
  • A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch a Dragon 2 spacecraft on a resupply mission to the International Space Station.

November

The annual South Taurid meteor shower peaks on Nov. 4-5.

A total lunar eclipse will be visible from Asia, Australia, North America, parts of northern and eastern Europe and South America.

The full moon of November is known as the Beaver Moon. The time is 11:02.

The annual North Taurid meteor shower peaks overnight.

The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission, which was developed by NASA and the French space agency CNES, will be launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

The most anticipated shower of the year is the Leonid shower.

The new moon arrives at 5:57 pm. The time is 2 257 GMT.

Also scheduled to launch in November.

  • A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the Polaris Dawn mission commanded by Jared Isaacman and will be his second trip to space. Isaacman will be joined by pilot Scott “Kidd” Poteet, and SpaceX employees Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon.
  • A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch a U.S. Space Force mission, USSF 67, from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

December

The full moon of December is known as the Cold Moon. The time is 0408 December 8.

One of the best meteor showers of the year peaks overnight.

The sun sets on Dec. 21. Today is the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

The annual Ursid meteor shower peaks overnight.

The new moon arrives at 5:16 a.m. The sun rises at 0916 GMT.

A new-generation Boeing-build broadband satellite ViaSat 3 Americas will be launched in the third quarter.

The first flight of the United Launch Alliance Vulcan Centaur rocket will be with the Astrobotic lunar landers. It will be launched from the Space Force Station in Florida.

The first crewed flight of Boeing's Starliner will take place in late 2022, thanks to a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. Two NASA astronauts, along with an unidentified third crew member, will fly on a mission. The Crew Test Flight to the International Space Station is scheduled to lift off.

India will launch its first commercial mission with four Earth observation satellites for BlackSky Global. It will lift off from India.
