The Philadelphia 76ers will play the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the NBA playoffs, and defensive specialist Matisse Thybulle will be able to play only in the home games.
Unvaccinated foreign nationals are not allowed to enter Canada. The coach said that Thybulle would be ineligible for Games 3 and 4 because of the limited exemptions to the rule.
After the 76ers defeated the Pistons 118-106 on Sunday, Thybulle said he was raised in aholistic household and didn't want to become fully vaccine free. He said he didn't want to get another shot because he had a solid foundation of medical resources that could serve him.
He said that it was not the outcome he wanted.
He accepted that his decision could hurt the Sixers, his reputation and future earnings, but he did not see any benefits from trying alternative medicine.
I thought I could keep it quiet, and I made this choice.
The situation of Thybulle is not new to Rivers and the 76ers, who finished with the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Rivers said that they knew it going into the game.
The regular-season finale was won by Shake Milton and Tyrese Maxey, despite the absence of James Harden.
Rivers will give the 76ers a day off Monday and use Tuesday for film before the playoffs.
