While the big game of the weekend saw Manchester City andLiverpool play out a thrilling draw, there was plenty going on elsewhere.

Talking points, top goals, and troubled teams are included.

Four talking points

Hat tricks for PSG's star trio

It was easy to dream when Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe joined the attack, but even better combinations and gaudy score lines have kept the gaudiness to a minimum.

There was a hat trick of hat tricks as the soon-to-be French Champs romped to a 6-1 win.

In league play, Mbappe has 20 goals and 14 assists, he leads the league in both categories, and he has 31 goals and 18 assists in all competition. Imagine what he would have done with a few more matches. Messi moved to 13 league assists.

This might be the last year that this trio teams up in Paris. The season has not been without beautiful moments, despite the failure of the league.

Vinicius plays provider as Madrid cruise

Vinicius Junior has been a revelation this season, with 38 LaLiga goals and 18 assists, but one thing not expected was for him to turn into Luka Modric. Casemiro opened the scoring on Saturday when Vinicius delivered an outside-of-the-boot delivery.

Vinicius made sure the match went without a hitch, because it was the kind of match that can be tricky, sandwiched between two games. The odds of an upset were reduced to zero when Lucas Vazquez added a second.

Even the ear-splitting whistles that greeted Bale as a substitute, which marked his first appearance at the Bernabeu for over two years and was the latest part of Carlo Ancelotti's ongoing efforts to integrate the Wales captain as a backup No. 9 -- could not. Next up: Chelsea.

Six-hitting Chelsea end mini slump

After Real Madrid defeated Chelsea in the first leg of the playoffs, Thomas Tuchel suggested the tie was over. He might be rethinking after watching his team put six past the Saints.

It is still a huge ask to go to the Bernabeu and win by at least two clear goals, but there is hope after the performance at St Mary's. The Saints have done well against some good teams this season, with draws at home and away against Manchester City.

If they can take their goal- scoring form fromSouthampton to Madrid and score early on Tuesday night, then anything is possible after a third straight defeat.

Advantage Inter as rivals slip

Inter took charge of one of Europe's most exciting title races over the weekend. Inter will leapfrog AC Milan by winning their game in hand, even though Milan still sit top of the league.

Nicolo Barella scored a superb goal and Edin Dzeko scored a goal to help Inter get three points on Saturday. The Diego Armando Maradona Stadium was the site of the game between Napoli and Fiorentina.

Milan had the chance to move four points clear at the top of the table, but they could not break down Torino. It means the title is in Inter's hands, but there will be more twists and turns during the run-in.

Three must-see goals

Luuk de Jong wins it late for Barcelona

Luuk de Jong has become a cult hero at Barcelona, and his legacy grew with a dramatic late winner at Levante as the Catalans secured their seventh straight win in LaLiga. The Dutch player came on in the 93rd minute and connected brilliantly with a Jordi Alba cross to move Barcelona back into second place.

The goals of Pierre-Emerick and Pedri are worth a second look. The good work in attack was almost undone at the back as they gave away three penalties. Two of them were scored by Levante, but one was saved by ter Stegen.

Nkunku's superb form continues

After just five minutes, Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring with a sharp turn and a low shot, which was assisted by the VAR. He has 28 goals this season, with 13 coming since the start of the year. Nkunku has 15 assists, including one on Sunday.

In the race for fourth in the Bundesliga, the win by Leipzig took them seven points clear of Hoffenheim. The side of Tedesco has taken 29 points from their past 12 league matches and retain control of their own destiny even though they are three points behind.

Jota drags Liverpool back at Man City

Manchester City's 2-2 draw withLiverpool might not have decided the title race, but it had some moments of pure quality, and Diogo Jota's effort, which cancelled out Kevin De Bruyne's opener, was the pick of the goals.

The 13th-minute strike was made by Andy Robertson's cross and Trent Alexander-Arnold's cute layoff, which gave Jota the opportunity to finish with a low shot after he had shown clever moment to back off into space.

What a start to the game!It took less than 10 minutes for Liverpool to find their equalizer through Jota!

Two teams that should be worried

A week to forget for Arsenal

At the last international break, FiveThirtyEight gave a 67% chance of finishing in England's top four and scoring a first European spot for the club. They had taken 31 points from their 13 league matches, losing only to Manchester City and Liverpool. There were two downright dismal losses.

After a loss to Crystal Palace on Monday, the team did not have a good performance against Seagulls on Saturday. The 2-1 loss means they trail Spurs by three points, but they have a game in hand and an opportunity against their north London rivals in May.

There are bad weeks and really bad weeks. Five of their last eight matches are away from the Emirates Stadium, including trips to West Ham and Spurs.

Atletico's season in danger of unravelling

There is no doubt that the back-to-back 1-0 defeats of Atleti Madrid was more disappointing. If the loss to Manchester City was excusable, the defeat to Real Mallorca was harder to justify.

Mallorca has been inspired by the arrival of their new manager, but they only had one shot on target against the fourth-worst defence in LaLiga. The second leg against City was always going to be an excuse, but a top-four finish is in jeopardy, with Real Betis just one point behind.

Weekend MVP

Conte puts Tottenham in top-four contention

In November, Spurs were ninth. With seven games to go, they are three points clear in fourth and on course to qualify for the European competition. Spurs have won four in a row with an aggregate score of 14-2.

play

The front three of Spurs were praised after their win against Villa.

It took time for the new coach to get his ideas across, but Spurs have been in good form recently. It's remarkable that United didn't appoint the Italian when they wanted to replace Solskjaer. It would be a response if Spurs were to get into the league.
