The Nets are hopeful that Ben Simmons will be able to play in the first round of the playoffs even if he only plays a few minutes per game.
Sources believe that Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference playoffs would be too soon to expect Simmons to make his debut, as he has been ruled out of the NBA play-in tournament.
Since his trade to the Nets two months ago, Simmons has been moving more freely on the court and has advanced to shooting and 1-on-1 workouts after stops and starts.
Simmons had an epidural shot in mid-March to relieve pain and irritation from a back injury. If the Nets advance out of the play-in tournament, he could become available to them sometime in a first-round series.
The Pacers will be in Brooklyn for the regular-season finale.
