During an event in Tokyo celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary, the publisher announced that a new mainline Kingdom Hearts game is in the works. The story of the original game began with the return of Sora in Kingdom Hearts IV. The trailer shows Sora waking up in a city called Quadratum. It is a departure for the series, as it is a Tokyo-like metropolis rendered in a realistic graphical style. The city is attacked by a monster after a new character named Strelitzia introduces herself. The trailer transitions smoothly as Sora runs to face the threat. Sora completes a parkour sequence that involves a collapsing building. Donald Duck and Goofy are looking for their lost friend in the trailer after the title card. There is no word on a release date for Kingdom Hearts IV. Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a new mobile title that fans in select markets will be able to try out in August, was announced at the same event.
