Jake Sullivan, a national security advisor, said on Sunday that the United States is sending weapons to the Ukrainians.
Sullivan said in an interview that the US is working around the clock to deliver its own weapons.
Sullivan said that weapons are arriving every day, including today. We went through every weapon system that Ukraine is seeking.
Sullivan continued, "We have developed plans to deliver those as quickly as possible." We will do everything we can to get Ukraine what it needs to strengthen its hand on the battlefield and at the bargaining table.
Zelenskyy has been asking NATO and Western countries for support in the fight against Russia. The international alliance has rejected his request to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine in order to deter Russian missiles.
In March, Putin warned that anyone who tries to impose a no-fly zone will be considered a participant in a military conflict.
Sullivan said that the battle for Kyiv was partly due to US support.
We are not resting until we give them everything they need to succeed, he said.
Millions of Ukrainians have fled their homeland due to the war. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency, more than 4.5 million Ukrainians have escaped since the beginning of the invasion. More than 1 million Ukrainians left in the first week.
Sullivan said on Meet the Press that the policy was "unequivocal" that they would do whatever they could to help Ukraine succeed. President Zelenskyy and the government of Ukraine decide what success is. We need to keep giving them weapons so that they can progress on the battlefield.
