The most dominant title defence of Alexander Volkanovski's reign was delivered at UFC 273.

Volkanovski looked a class above his opponent as he outwrestled him in Jacksonville, Florida.

He was 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217

Volkanovski started well and earned Jung's respect with his boxing as he held the upper hand throughout the opening five minutes, then dropped the South Korean in the closing seconds of the round.

The champion dropped Jung for the second time in the contest with a powerful two-punch combination in the early rounds and then wobbled Jung again in round two with a big left hook.

Jung tried to fight his way back into contention in round three, but Volkanovski was too much for him as he dropped his man for a third time, then came close to finishing him with ground strikes.

After Jung came out for the fourth round, it took just a couple of punches from Volkanovski to stop the fight, which was stopped 45 seconds into the round.

Volkanovski's record improved to 24-1 as he retained his title and extended his win streak to 21 fights.

He said after his win that he was on another level.

I just showed you that I can be stopped. He took more than I wanted him to. I thought they could have stopped it a bit earlier, but that is the sport we are in.

I'm right up there with the greatest - Volkanovski

Sterling edges split-decision to unify titles

A new argument emerged after the UFC bantamweight title bout went to a split decision, as the controversy of their first fight was put to rest.

After a close opening round, New York's Sterling dominated rounds two and three before fending off a spirited comeback from Russia'sYan in the championship rounds to earn scores of 48-47, 47-47, 48-47 from the judges.

The American was unable to continue in their first title clash because of an illegal knee from the Chinese, which resulted in the disqualification of the American.

There was no controversy during the action this time around, with Sterling using his grappling skills to dominate Yan, 29 through the second and third rounds, as he looked to find a submission.

The Russian came back with a better round in round four to set up a crucial final frame, and he did well to fend off the onslaught of takedown attempts by the Englishman, before scoring with a big flying knee as the former champion finished the stronger of the two.

The result was in the balance as both fighters waited for the judges scorecards, but it was Sterling who took the victory to extend his win streak to seven fights.

I knew I came in here highly doubted. After his victory, he said that people wrote him off after his last performance.

He said he won three of the five rounds, and called for a second fight with The Funkmaster.

Burns stunned Chimaev with a huge right hand in the second round, threatening to turn the tables on the Swede. Both men connected with big strikes as the Jacksonville crowd were brought to their feet.

The fight was in the balance heading into the final round, and both men traded big shots in the final frame as the fight went all the way to the final horn.

The judges scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Chimaev, who improved his perfect professional record to 11-0 and immediately entered the title conversation at 170 pounds.

UFC president Dana White said earlier this week that he would look to book Chimaev against Colby Covington in a main event later this summer.

Dern moves closer to strawweight title shot

The biggest win of her UFC career was claimed earlier in the night by former Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Mackenzie Dern.

After three rounds, the judges split the fight between the two competitors, but in the second round, Dern was in control and could have ended the fight. Despite attempting a number of submissions, Dern was unable to force The Tiny Tornado to tap.

The judges were called into action, with the split decision going the way of Dern, with scores of 28-29, 29-28, 29-28.

The opening main card bout of the night was a unanimous decision victory by Mark Madsen over Vinc Pichel.

His record was extended to 12-0 with scores of 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.

Ian Garry of Ireland won his second UFC win with a unanimous decision victory over Darian Weeks in the featured preliminary card bout.

After winning his UFC debut with a first-round knockout of Jordan Williams, the young man was tested by Weeks, who took the former Cage Warriors champion the distance.

At the end of the day, it is 15 minutes in the cage and he is not happy with it.

I am not perfect yet, but it is my experience and I will learn from it.

After announcing a big personal news, he called on Dana White and Mick Maynard to pack his schedule in the months ahead.

I know I have a lot to learn, but my wife is pregnant and we are expecting at the end of the year.

Dana! Mick! Sean! I will knock them out if they line them up. Everybody is going to be calling me by the time I finish this division.
