The irons that Tiger Woods used to win four majors in a row from 2000 to 2001 were sold for a record-breaking price.

Golden Age Auctions sold the Titleist 681-T iron set that helped him win the Tiger Slam. Horton Smith's green jacket sold in 2013 for $682,000, setting a new record for golf collectibles.

Todd Brock, a private equity investor from Houston, said the money made from the auction will go to his foundation. Brock bought the irons at an auction in 2010 for over $60,000.

I have had them for 12 years now, and I have not told anyone that I own them. Brock said that they were in a nice frame in his office and that nobody was seeing the irons. I felt blessed that I was able to hang out with them, but it was time for someone else to do something better with them.

Brock says he is a Tiger Woods fan, but the only other item he had ever purchased was a meet-and-greet with the country music star. He thought he had a chance at owning a holy grail when the clubs came up for sale.

Mata took a polygraph test to prove that the irons were authentic. Brock did some research on the irons that made him believe they were real after he passed the test. The irons were photo-matched by Golden Age Auctions.

The value of Woods items has continued to rise. One of the Woods backup putters was sold by Golden Age.
